What is meant by an Assignment of a TradeMark?

An Assignment means transfer of a claim, right or a property, allotment, appointment or ascribing property to another. This transfer is effected by the execution of the document called an assignment in writing and signed by the transferor and transferee. The term assignment is defined in section 2(1) (a) of Trade Marks Act, 1999 “as assignment means an assignment in writing by an act of the parties concerned”.
